A garage is often an integral part of a home. Usually, it is only associated with a place where we keep our car and sometimes car accessories. But how about arranging your garage in a slightly more creative and functional way? Here’s how you can make your garage work for more than one purpose.
Are you short of space at home and your garage is standing cluttered and unused? It’s time to change that! We tell you how you can arrange your garage to make it both functional and aesthetically pleasing
A garage makeover should start with a little renovation to make sure you get the most out of your space. A neglected and cluttered garage is not likely to be a functional place. So think about refreshing the walls and the floor. Neutral-colored walls, such as gray, will look best in a garage so that dirt won’t be visible. Choose a durable paint, such as one that is abrasion and moisture resistant and mildew resistant
When it comes to the floor, make sure it is scratch and crack resistant, easy to clean and non-slip. Resin-based flooring, concrete screed and porcelain stoneware tiles, for example, will work well. Remember, however, that if you decide on tiles, choose smaller ones. Large tiles can crack under the weight of a car.
The main function of a garage is, of course, storing the car but very often things which did not find their place inside the house end up there as well. So, it is advisable to make sure that they are tidy
You can choose to buy furniture such as shelves or garage racks and some plastic or cardboard boxes. This will help you bury all your items and make your garage look much neater. However, remember to measure the furniture carefully and adjust its size to the size of your garage, not forgetting that you need to have at least 50-60 centimeters of completely free space to get out of your car and move around it freely.
A great way to arrange your garage is to arrange it into a home workshop. It will be a perfect space for tinkering in your free time. The basic equipment of such a workshop are workbenches. If you have enough space, you can install such a table permanently, but if the space is too small, you can also opt for a folding table
If you have enough space, you can install a fixed workbench, but if your space is too limited, you can also choose a folding workbench
The right lighting is also very important in such a home workshop. It is very important to have a decent source of light to illuminate the entire garage, as well as a led lamp to illuminate your workspace.
The garage should also have tools to work with and a place to store them. Garage spaces are usually not very large, so it is much easier for clutter and chaos to occur. To prevent this, put magnetic strips, perforated plates and hooks, holders for different types of tools and small containers for different types of screws or nails in your garage workshop. This will make it much easier for you to keep things tidy.
