Nowadays practically every family owns its own car. It often happens that every driver at home has their own car. It is also a good idea to take good care of it, so that it can serve them in a good condition for as long as possible. Therefore, many people decide to garage four wheels. One of the simplest and relatively cheap ways is to put up a tin garage on the plot. What requirements have to be fulfilled and do we have to get a building permit before we start work?
According to the construction law, we can erect a tin garage on the plot without a building permit in case if the structure does not exceed 35 m2 and the total number of them is not more than 2 for each 500 m2 of the plot. However, the intention to erect such a structure on the plot must be reported to the relevant authorities, i.e. to the starost or the mayor no later than 30 days before the commencement of the works. If there are no objections within this period, we can start the construction – we are dealing here with the so called “silent consent”. However, we have to remember to meet all requirements concerning norms and safety or to keep appropriate distances from the property borders. When submitting the notification, we will also need a building plan, a site map or a statement on the right to use the plot. From the moment of notification, we have 2 years for construction
To sum up, a tin garage can be built only on the basis of notification to the proper authorities, without the need of a building permit. However, we have to remember about some important rules and keeping the proper deadlines.
