What is the wall in the vestibule?
It takes approx. 3 minutes to read this article

Windbreak may sound mysterious to some, but it is nothing more than a well-known to us anteroom, also known as a corridor or vestibule. How to arrange the walls in this space to look elegant and functional?

The vestibule is not an obligatory element of the building, despite the fact that a lot of people decide on it. This room separates the entrance part of the house from the residential part. It can take both external and internal form. The first option is a porch or veranda, which emphasize the architectural qualities of the building and have a decorative function. In its internal form, the vestibule is also referred to as a corridor, hallway or vestibule, which clearly indicates the purpose of such a space.

Following the original name, we can guess that the vestibule is supposed to perform certain functions – stopping air masses, moisture, cold and noise from entering the house. In this way it prevents heat loss, protecting the building from excessive cooling. This inconspicuous space also helps to keep other rooms clean, as it is where we take off our shoes, leave wet umbrellas and hang our outer garments. How to design a vestibule so that it looks aesthetically pleasing and is practical? First of all, it is worth it to focus on the walls.

Arrangement of walls in a vestibule

Vestibules are usually small and narrow rooms, which makes them difficult to arrange. There is not enough space to place furniture and arrange an elegant space, acting as a showcase of the house. The easiest and best idea is to focus on walls, because if they are properly finished, they will make the apartment look aesthetically pleasing at the very entrance. You can cover them with good quality paint, wallpaper, wooden paneling, cladding with original texture … There are many possibilities!

Paint

The most universal idea is to paint the walls. Choose light and creamy colors with warm tones, thanks to which an anteroom will seem bigger, cozier and brighter. Choose durable paints, resistant to stains, mechanical damage or scrubbing. Remember that the color of the walls in the vestibule should match the color scheme of other rooms. Painted walls can be decorated with photos in frames, creating a home gallery, and narrow shelves, on which we can place books, small souvenirs and vases.

Wallpapers and photo wallpapers

A more time-consuming, but more effective solution than painting the walls in the hallway will be to cover them with wallpaper or photo wallpaper. Their advantage is that they cover small irregularities and defects in the wall. Currently, wallpapers are produced in so many patterns and colors that they successfully perform a decorative function. An interesting idea is also to cover with wallpaper or photo wallpaper only one wall and paint the rest of the room with paint of a matching color.

Decorative stone, brick and wood

If paints and wallpapers seem to us too boring a solution, we can decide for more original walls and cover them with claddings of natural materials, for example decorative stone, brick and wood. Such arrangements will appeal to lovers of boho and industrial styles. Just remember that this type of facing does not need to be accompanied by too many decorations and it works better in bigger spaces.
